A2O LITE NEON Dance With Your Best Friend, No Dance Practice
Do the A2O LITE NEON challenge with your best friend without learning the dance. Take one everyday photo of each other and get a 15-second video of you two doing the NEON intro, looking like yourselves.
You and your best friend can do the A2O LITE NEON dance without learning a single move. Take one everyday photo of each other, upload both to NEON Duo AI (a2oliteneondance.org), and about 10 minutes later you get a 15-second video of the two of you doing the NEON intro in the same white studio. In our test, both friends still looked like themselves, down to the small moles on their faces.
You don't need to know the dance
The NEON intro is fast: a solo opening, a reveal from behind, a close-up, a sideways shot and a side-by-side finish, all in 15 seconds. Learning it together takes practice and a free afternoon, and filming it takes a third person or a tripod.
Here, the dancing is done for you. Each of you only needs one photo. You don't have to be in the same place when you take them, and neither of you has to dance on camera.
You, and both people in the video, must be 18 or older, and both people must agree to be in it.
Will it look like the two of you?
That's the first thing most people ask. We made a test video from two everyday photos of two friends: one outside a café in a red top and black trousers, one at home in a yellow T-shirt and light-blue jeans. They are AI-generated example people, not real customers, so we could show the photos.

The close-ups are where a face is most likely to drift, so that's where we looked. The friend in front gets a solo face close-up at about 5 seconds, the largest her face is in the whole video. She is still herself there, including the small mole by her mouth. Her friend keeps the mole under her eye in every shot she is close to the camera.

The outfits came through too: the red top, the black trousers, the yellow T-shirt, and the light-blue jeans stayed light blue. Nobody swapped clothes.
This is one test video, so take it as an example, not a guarantee. A face can still look a little different in a few fast shots. What helps most is the photo itself, which is the next step.
Take each other's photo
Taking the photo for your friend is the easiest way to get a good one. You can see their face properly, which a selfie arm often can't. For each photo:
- One person, face to the camera. The whole face visible, nothing over it: no sunglasses, mask, hand or phone.
- Even light. Stand facing a window or in open shade, not with a bright window behind them.
- Head to shoes if you can. The outfit comes from the photo, so a full-body photo keeps more of it. A chest-up photo works, and the rest is filled in to match.
- No beauty filter. Smoothed skin and bigger eyes get copied into the video.
- Send it as a file. Chat apps shrink photos. Send it in original quality, at least 512 × 512 px.
Want to look like a pair? Plan outfits together before you take the photos: matching colors, or the same top in two colors. More examples of good and bad photos are in our photo guide.
Decide who goes in front
The generator has two slots. Front opens the intro alone and gets the solo close-up. Behind leans out from behind and then dances beside. The ⇄ button swaps them if you change your mind.
Can't agree? The Plus pack ($15.90) covers two 480p videos, so you can make both versions and each of you is in front once. Starter ($9.90) covers one 480p video. Only the person uploading needs to sign in and pay; the other doesn't need an account. The full steps are in how to make the A2O LITE NEON AI dance.
Post it together
When the video is ready, you get two files: one with the NEON intro sound and a silent copy.
- Send it to each other first, before anyone else sees it.
- Both post the silent copy on TikTok with the NEON sound from TikTok's music library.
- Mention each other in the caption, so the other can repost it.
- Turn on the AI-generated content label. It's an AI video, and TikTok asks you to label it.
The details, including a vertical 9:16 version, are in how to post your NEON dance on TikTok.
Common questions
Do we need to take the photos together? No. Each photo is of one person, taken anywhere. If your friend lives far away, see the long-distance guide.
Can three of us do it? No. The NEON intro is a duo, so each video has exactly two people. A group of three can make more than one video, with a different pair in each.
Can I make it as a surprise? Only after your friend has agreed to be in the video. The surprise is seeing the finished video.
What if it doesn't look like us? Change the photo, not just your luck: a front-on photo in even light makes the biggest difference. If a video fails, its credits go back to your balance automatically.
